Google Wallet users may soon have a little plastic to add to their pocketbooks.
Google is purportedly working on a physical Google Wallet card that
will serve as an all-in-one card, allowing Android device users to pay
with whatever credit cards are tied to their Google Wallet account.
According to the website Android Police, through the Google Wallet
app, users can connect their debit cards and credit cards to their
account. This will enable them to carry the one card and their phone
rather than a pocket full of plastic cards.
Google Wallet is a virtual wallet that securely stores credit and
debit cards as well as offers and rewards cards. Users tap their phones
to pay in-store wherever contactless payments are accepted.
According to Android Police, the Google Wallet Card is to be used in
“those scenarios where you don’t have (or want to use) tap and pay.
Imagine leaving all your credit cards at home from now on, and just
carrying one, and your phone.”
If a user loses the Wallet card, he or she can simply cancel the
Wallet card rather than all of the cards. It can be used where major
credit and debit cards are accepted.
Android Police received word of Google’s credit card plans via a
leaked version of the Google Wallet app from an anonymous source.
According to reports, the card would enable users to instantly redeem
special deals and exclusive offers. Google will also offer
around-the-clock fraud monitoring.
Customers can request an invite for the next version of Wallet on the site.
Google Wallet does not charge a fee to consumers to use Google Wallet in-store or online.
