GoDaddy Back Online

Go Daddy is back online after “internal network events,” not an anonymous hacker, caused a server outage, the company said Tuesday.
“We have determined the service outage was due to a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables,” interim CEO Scott Wagner said in a company statement. “Once the issues were identified, we took corrective actions to restore services for our customers and GoDaddy.com. We have implemented measures to prevent this from occurring again.”
Originally, “Anonymous Own3r” claimed responsibility via Twitter for the disruption that immobilized millions of websites the company hosts.
GoDaddy spokeswoman Elizabeth Driscoll told The Associated Press there was no loss of sensitive customer information such as credit-card data or passwords.
Driscoll said the outage began Monday at 1:25 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The GoDaddy.com website was back up and service was restored for the bulk of its customers that evening.

Itching for New iPhone
Out with the old, in with the new iPhone5.
Droves of iPhone owners are eager to sell or trade their devices, many of which are not even two years old, and replace it with its hottest successor: the iPhone 5.
According to a USA Today story, used iPhones bring anywhere from $315 for a top-end model to as little as $35 for a low-end device.
Customers, largely, are choosing to scrap old iPhones on the strength of rumors that Apple will radically change both the appearance and functions of the iPhone, the report said. The new model is reported to have a larger screen and thinner frame, making current models look dated.

Instagram Popularity on Rise
Instagram is now the second-most-popular app behind Facebook, a recent study has found.
In fact, Instagram was the most-downloaded social app in July across the 10 largest markets it tracks, MediaPost News reported Monday.
Macquarie Securities analyst Ben Schachter told MediaPost Instagram is especially popular with teenagers.
A report by Schachter based on interviews with Facebook and Instagram users ages 17 to 28, found:
* All were actively using Instagram, though none were a year ago.
* Facebook was still popular, mostly because it combines all social connections in one spot.
* Most said they think they will use Facebook less six months from now.
* Teens said nearly all of their friends were already using Instagram.

Localytics to Up Mobile Marketing
Reaching app subscribers is no easy feat.
Mobile analytics firm Localytics, however, believes it has the solution.
With the help of new financing, Localytics is investing in new marketing services to solve problems such as subscribers choosing not to use “push messaging” and failing to share their e-mail addresses.
According to a MediaPost News interview with co-founder and CEO Raj Aggarwal, “it is easy to increase connection with users by implanting marketing messages into users’ app experience.”
Localytics, the article said, will “then use its analytics technology to measure campaign performance – and make necessary adjustments.”
