  1. Only check and process email three times a day (morning, noon, and afternoon).

  2. Answer an email only if it will take less than one minute.

  3. Archive unimportant emails.

  4. Delegate emails that you want to answer later as a task, and specify a due date.

  5. In the afternoon, when energy levels are low, answer longer emails.

  6. Don't use email to manage work.

  7. Use tools that surface the most important information, such as EasilyDo, Unroll.Me, and SaneBox.

  8. If you're going to open an email, either do something with it or file it away.

  9. Use glass tables with dry erase markers in conference rooms as whiteboards.

  10. Keep an organized desk.

  11. Use a task-manager (such as Any.Do) to plan each day.

  12. Wear noise-canceling headphones to increase your focus.

  13. Know when to say "no" and say it.

  14. Over-communicate, even if it feels redundant and overdone.
